New Technologies Threats for Elderly (NTTE)

Background

NTTE partners discovered that for the last five years people 65 + started using computers and Internet regularly, at least once a week, and mobiles/smart phones every day. They use Internet because it is cheaper and they can stay at home, keep contact with relatives, doctors, make appointments, buy online food/medication; pay bills. Some of the retired need to work for living. New technologies help them find easier a job, get online training, obtain new skills. For their leisure time and hobbies social media provide opportunities for making friends, attending cultural/sports events, sharing photos, videos, etc. But all those digital devices can be a threat to seniors if they do not have the main rules set for usage.

Objectives

Extending and developing the competencies of educators and other personnel who support adult learners

The objectives of the project aim for the professional development of each partner organization through European collaboration, direct learning of various non-formal methods in the field of participatory arts, and the development of a digital approach.

Supporting individuals in acquiring and developing basic skills and key competencies

New technology is definitely a teaching and learning tool that leads to the comprehension and construction of individual, social and cultural identity needed for successful social inclusion. Moreover making videos is a creative process and is thus inclusive for all who participate in the project.

Social inclusion

The project provides learning opportunities for the partners involved in the education of elderly people. This priority is about learning to develop social competencies for adult people to use digital devices, and to promote new skills and social inclusion through education, training, and arts.
