EURODEMOS: A New Push to European Democracy

EURODEMOS is a forward-thinking initiative aimed at enhancing youth engagement in democratic processes across Europe.

EURODEMOS is a forward-thinking initiative aimed at enhancing youth engagement in democratic processes across Europe. The project is rooted in the principles of civic participation, fostering dialogue among European youth, and promoting democratic values. Operating under the Erasmus+ programme, EURODEMOS seeks to address modern challenges such as digitalization, disinformation, and democratic participation, while actively engaging youth to shape the future of European democracy.

Objectives

The project has three core objectives:

  1. Awareness and Education: To inform and raise awareness among European youth about the challenges and opportunities of democracy in the digital age.
  2. Youth Engagement: To directly involve young people in policy making and decision-making processes.
  3. Fostering Dialogue: To enhance transnational dialogue among youth on topics like European citizenship, democratic participation, and cultural diversity.

Project Goals

EURODEMOS aims to achieve:

  • Increased youth participation in democratic processes, particularly during the 2024 European Parliament elections.
  • Development of actionable recommendations on key democratic issues, based on youth perspectives.
  • Empowerment of young individuals with the knowledge and skills needed to combat disinformation and participate in decision-making processes.
  • Creation of a sustainable framework for civic engagement that can be replicated across Europe.

  • Active Youth (Lithuania)
  • Champions Factory (Bulgaria)
  • World Society Builders (Germany)

Key Activities

  • Hosting seven transnational panels on topics including democracy and technology, cultural diversity, and the role of civil society.
  • Publishing a set of 70 recommendations based on these discussions to inform EU policies.
  • Running a transnational social media campaign and organizing a final online conference to disseminate findings.
